M1 Orientation and Welcome Week

The UMMC School of Medicine’s Orientation seeks to welcome new medical students and ease their transition into this new chapter of life.  Throughout the summer before their first semester, virtual orientation seminars are held with current medical students and staff to assist students with onboarding, financial aid, and general advice for the upcoming year.

The week before class begins, the new students take part in Welcome Week, an exciting series of events that introduce them to their new home and connect them with their future classmates.  This week is filled with fun opportunities, including a class meet-and-greet, interest group sessions, talks with the deans, the white coat ceremony, and a field day extravaganza!  With every new class, the Student Affairs team is constantly innovating and improving ways to make every M1 orientation a truly memorable experience.
